Alcohol ban will protect some train passengers
Re: "Drinking and rape aren't necessarily companions", Letters, July 16
I didn't say that all rape would end if alcohol were banned on the trains, as Clara Holzer claims. But clearly alcohol can make some men extremely violent and it might have been a factor in that girl's rape and murder. Now they're banning alcohol on the trains. If they had banned it before the girl had been attacked, the worst that could have happened is that a bunch of losers riding the train would have needlessly gone several hours without getting drunk. The best that could have happened is the girl and other victims might have been saved.
