Abbott is proving a dud on the world stage for Aussies

As an Australian citizen increasingly concerned by the strident foreign policy of the new right-wing government in Australia, which is alienating traditional friends in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia and Thailand, I would suggest the Prime Minister Tony Abbott stop grandstanding on the international stage and attend to his own more pressing domestic problems, not least among which is the fate of the unfortunate Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka kidnapped by the Australian authorities on the high seas on their way to seek refuge in Australia and now languishing in detention centres awaiting deportation back to an uncertain future in Sri Lanka.

Tony Abbott speaks of an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine. It would be interesting to know his sources of information as not even Washington or London apparently know anything about this. His threat of tougher sanctions against Russia can only increase hardship for Australian meat and dairy producers who stand to see their exports banned by Russia in retaliation.
