One of the newest kids born to the Cape & Kantary Hotels family, the Somewhere Hotel on Koh Sichang off the Chon Buri coast has risen from the rubble of two old villas to bloom into an elegant upmarket boutique residence.

Surrounded by shady trees and colourful flowers, Somewhere, which has been in business since the middle of last year, offers 5-star luxury for a 3-star price. Located in a two-storey building, that is equipped with a modern key card system, it has 20 air-conditioned rooms in three categories: Deluxe Room, Studio Suite and One Bedroom Suite. All rooms occupy 38 square metres but have different layouts and are painted in a nautical theme of white and blue. They come with a walk-in shower and free Wi-Fi.

I stayed overnight in a comfortable Deluxe room, which has a sitting area with a two-seat sofa in turquoise and an LED television connected to satellite channels and a DVD player. The spacious balcony overlooks the sea and is a great place to prepare for the day with a piping hot cup of coffee.

Breakfast is served buffet style at the adjacent Verandah restaurant, which offers an all-day dining menu of both Thai and Western dishes.

Prices start from Bt2,400, including complimentary round-trip Skylan transfer from the pier.

Somewhere Hotel is at 194, 194/1 Tha Thewawong, Koh Sichang, Chon Buri. Book a room at (038) 109 400 or visit www.SomewhereHotel.com.
