With its well-appointed guest rooms, lots of different restaurants and age-appropriate activities for the younger set, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa offers the ultimate family holiday
An exotic getaway with something for everyone and plenty of luxury in which to bask, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is an ideal place to rewind.
Fronting on to the pristine and tranquil Mai Khao Beach, the resort is a mere 20 minutes by car from Phuket International Airport and while the area has been developed considerably over the last five years, the JW Marriott has managed to remain peaceful thanks to its secluded location.
Once inside the property, you’ll only be greeted by refreshing ocean breeze and the sounds of rustling palm fronds.
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is a sizeable resort with ample facilities. There are 265 guestrooms in seven different categories from which to choose. Decorated in contemporary Thai style, each room is fully furnished and equipped with the full amenities. I particularly liked the fact that tiles replace carpet on the floor, giving the space an airy and cool feeling even when it’s pouring outside. Most rooms come with small patio overlooking the garden and some also boast private plunge pools.
The building is laid out in such a way as to ensure that you have an unobstructed, panoramic view wherever your room is located, which adds to the feeling of spaciousness and privacy even in the high season.
Winding paths make their way through a lush tropical garden to the beach and guests preferring to swim in fresh rather than salt water can take their pick from three massive outdoor pools, each with a children’s section. There are also plenty day beds around the pools for you to lounge with a favourite book between dips.
Kids and teens will be kept happily occupied all day with exciting activities designed to suit each age group. The newly conceptualised Lively Kid’s Pavilion offers fun stuff for the under 12s under watchful supervision of the staff while teens can enjoy several outdoor sports, games, bike rental, excursions and daily yoga sessions.
Another key feature is the welcoming staff. They are smiling and friendly yet focused, detail-oriented and willing to go out of their way to assist you without hovering.
Getting to Patong Beach and other Phuket attractions is not easy but the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa offers sufficient facilities to do away with the need to venture out. The resort boasts 11 restaurants and bars offering both Western and oriental cuisine. Highly recommended is Kabuki Japanese Cuisine Theatre for a fine dinner at affordable prices, and stiff cocktails next to the beach at Out of the Blue Drink.
Thanks to its visually pleasing elements and fully equipped facilities, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is also ideal for a romantic honeymoon and beachside weddings. Conference facilities are also available.
