A festival for mum
King Rama II Memorial Park in Samut Sakhon province plays host to the “Love Mum the Most” event this Saturday in celebration of Mother’s Day. The festival promises music from the Suntharaporn band, cultural shows and a mouth-watering array food. Samut Sakhon province is an hour drive to Bangkok’s southwest.
A feast for the underworld
The annual Thingkrajard Festival is being celebrated in Suphan Buri province from August 13 to 17. The festival, which is influenced by Chinese-speaking communities, is designed to feed the hungry ghosts and wandering spirits of the underworld. But there is nothing spooky about it and it draws thousands of visitors for the colourful parade and Chinese cultural show. The highlight is on August 13 when the Chinese-speaking communities parade the city spirit around town.
