Phang Nga provincial election officials were forced to cancel their campaign to promote voting on February 2 after PDRC local protesters set up a stage opposite them to campaign against the election.
Peera Petpanit, chairman of Phang Nga provincial election commission, said he launched the campaign to promote voting, because there had not yet been a royal decree deferring the election.
However, after 300 anti-government protesters turned up to oppose their campaign, Peera decided to cancel their activities to avoid clashes. He added that the province was still short of 500 election officials to oversee the February 2 election.
