Comey, Trump, Watergate

If you listen to the crackpots on Fox “News”, you would think the Comey testimony before the Senate was a smashing victory for Trump because Comey admitted telling him he wasn’t under investigation. Even Republicans have noted that the investigation is just beginning and no one knows where it will lead.

But more importantly, remember that Richard Nixon was not forced to resign for being behind the Watergate break-in. He was chased out of office for covering up the crime. So even if Trump was not behind Russia’s hijacking of the election, asking Comey to not investigate a major suspect, Michael Flynn, clearly could be seen as an attempt at a cover-up. And the timing of Comey’s firing adds more credibility to that suspicion.
