Clara Holzer’s lashing of Somsak Pola was fiercer than even my late mother could have achieved. I was shaken when she mentioned my name, and relieved when what followed was merely motherly advice.
However, Clara, I was not the one who instructed Sihasak Phuangketkeow of the Foreign Ministry to justify this coup to the world by claiming the need to “restore sanity”. It was General Prayuth Chan-ocha who initiated that move, in a bid to pacify global concern.
