His behaviour suggests megalomania, a mental illness marked by delusions of absolute power and greatness and the desire that everyone must kneel before you. This delusion is sometimes called the Hitler Syndrome. I prefer the Suthep Syndrome, though.
Suthep Thaugsuban has appointed himself “supreme protector” of Thailand. His imperious demands are making everyone laugh. He has ordered top government officials and Army generals to report to him. He also said he would seize the Shinawatras’ assets and kick them out of the country, and that only he can appoint an interim PM.
But I suspect he is faking insanity. His time is running out and his support is waning. So don’t be surprised if he does something even more bizarre, like getting on the stage naked, or banging his head on the podium, or barking and howling like a dog.
The man has a myriad of criminal cases waiting for him in the courts and his only defence strategy is likely to plea “not guilty by reason of insanity”.
