Thaksin Shinawatra has been the brains behind the Pheu Thai Party and the Yingluck government.
But pulling the strings from behind the scenes has resulted not only in Yingluck being rendered a lame duck PM after only two years in office but also threatened with a number of legal proceedings. So what went wrong?
Perhaps the answer is that Thaksin has relied too much on Pheu Thai and the government’s so-called law experts.
These “experts” have failed to warn the Shinawatra siblings of the consequences of their three separate attempts to change the Constitution and of a disastrous rice-subsidy scheme that has seen them attacked as the most disloyal citizens of the country.
No surprise then that Thaksin and Yingluck hardly know what has hit them.
