"Don't bite the hand that feeds you," goes the old saying.
His Majesty the King warned Suthep Thaugsuban, when he was agriculture minister, to take care of the rice farmers. His Majesty said that if they were forced through poverty to leave their profession, they might never return to it.
Suthep heeded these wise words, and is continuing to do so.
When a government seeks to deceive and exploit the very hands that feed it and the nation, that alone should justify its immediate removal by whatever means.
To steal the rightful earnings of these farmers and then to use them as political pawns is a dastardly act. It is inconceivable that such a greedy bunch can enjoy any support. Don’t Chalerm, Adul and his police force, Tarit and the Shinawatra family and, in fact, the whole nation, eat rice?
If a government is so dishonest and of such low morality that it is prepared to fill its pockets from the hard work of the rice farmers and then deny them payment, it should be kicked into touch without more ado and its members jailed.
