Re: "Emergency decree would be a last resort: Yingluck", Politics, January 7.
Caretaker Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri warns that people who join the simultaneous rallies on Monday will be violating the criminal code for assembling unlawfully to cause turmoil in the capital.
Can the minister explain the difference between this and the prolonged take-over of Ratchaprasong intersection in 2010, which caused immeasurable turmoil and was encouraged by all members of the present government? Has the minister supported any prosecution for these unlawful acts since his government assumed power?
Pheu Thai’s double standards are again at work here. When the law supports its cause, its politicians are jubilant. But when judgements do not go their way, they accuse the courts of political bias and unconstitutional behaviour.
