The hue and cry for the February 2 election is baffling.
No matter how craftily you succeed in holding a “general” election before reform, it will never be legitimate as long as the Democrat Party, representing at least 11 million out of 32 million voters, refuses to take part in the game.
There is no battle without the Democrats. The scenario now is similar to a football match between giants Manchester United and lowly Luton Town. There is no match and no point in prolonging this “February 2” political game in order to return to power under the old rules.
In hijacking the amnesty bill on November 1, members of the coalition parties succeeded in opening a can of worms that has seen previously silent and apolitical voters unite behind the call “enough is enough”. Reform must come first.
