A woman was arrested early yesterday morning in Pattaya for carrying an endangered slow loris and allegedly inviting tourists to have their picture taken with it.
Nareumon Insa-art, 23, was caught in front of the CentralFestival Pattaya Beach shopping mall with the slow loris, a nocturnal strepsirrhine primate, just after midnight.
Police were acting on a tip that she was toting a near-extinct wild animal to pose for souvenir shots with visitors and charging them Bt100 per picture. Nareumon, who claimed to have bought the animal from a friend, was escorted to Pattaya Police Station for booking, while the slow loris was delivered to the Bang Lamung Wildlife Breeding Centre.
