Former charter drafter Seri Suwanpanont said junta chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha is qualified to be premier.
He said Prayuth becoming prime minister was not against the current charter.
Seri was responding to an action by Association of Constitution Protecting Organisations secretary-general Srisuwan Janya, who on Friday petitioned the Ombudsman’s Office to file a case with the Constitutional Court to bar Prayuth from becoming PM.
The activist said he believed that it was against the provisional charter for the NLA to vote for the junta chief to become head of the next government because it was a conflict of interest and a violation of the code of conduct.
