National Legislative Assembly Presidentelect Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said he has already submitted his resignation as Ombudsman.
However, the resignation would be effective from September 1, as he needed some time to complete the unfinished work, he said, adding that the resignation was his own decision and not a result of public pressure.
Before he quits office, he will opt out of considering the cases with potential for a conflict of interest. These include a petition brought by activist Srisuwan Chanya charging that the NLA’s members did not adequately represent the diversity of Thai society.
