Thai farm worker becomes the third civilian killed in Gaza

A Thai farm worker was killed in Israel on Wednesday when a mortar shell fired from Gaza landed in Ashkelon area.
Thai Employment Department director general Sumet Mahosot identified the victim as Narakorn Kitiyangkul, 36 from Nan’s Pua district.
Israeli media reported that Narakorn became the third civilian killed by Gaza rockets since the start of Israel’s operation to halt a bombing barrage from the coastal strip.
He succumbed to his wounds after being flown by helicopter to Barzilai Medical Center in that southern Israeli city . The mortar shell landed on a hothouse where he was staying.
Yair Farjoun, the head of the Ashkelon Regional Council, expressed his condolences to the family, saying “We feel deep sadness by the death of the migrant worker… We send our condolences to the victim’s family and continue to give our backing to the IDF and the security forces.”
More than 2,000 rockets have been fired into Israel since the beginning of Operation Protective Edge. Over 420 of them have been intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system.
