Police say the husband of a government official stabbed to death in her Bangkok apartment on Saturday has confessed to killing her. His mother believed he committed the murder because of the effects of drug addiction 20 years ago.
The 40-year-old suspect Polphrom Watcharasirinan was apprehended along with his two daughters yesterday morning at a hotel.
He reportedly confessed to killing his seven-month-pregnant wife Pisutthinee Watcharasirinan.
Polphrom’s mother Chanthanee said Polphrom told her that he killed the woman without being fully aware of his action.
Chanthanee said her son went on a drug rehabilitation programme 20 years ago. Last week she said Pisutthinee called her, claiming Polphrom had mental problems.
Meanwhile, the Rights and Liberties Protection Department has presented Bt100,000 compensation to the victim’s family in accordance with the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act.
