The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will start re-organising street vendors in the middle of this month and this should be complete by the end of the month, BMA adviser Pol Maj-Gen Wichai Sangprapai said yesterday.
Wichai said city officials would explain the situation to vendors, many of whom had sold goods on footpaths for years and felt they had the right to do so. He said officials would help find new locations for vendors.
Vendors have till the end of the month to adjust to the move, with police set to arrest those who block footpaths, he said. Wichai is due to inspect vendors on Ramkamhaeng Road on Tuesday.
