The Political Development Council (PDC) yesterday proposed that there should be people's councils in all 77 provinces as a measure for political reform.
Council chairman Thirapat Serirangsan said establishing people’s councils was one of four measures the PDC would propose to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). He explained that people’s councils would allow people to discuss and exchange views on different issues, ranging from political and economic to society and culture.
The PDC also plans to call on the NCPO to set up outlets to help people get a true understanding of a constitutional monarchy, as well as set up venues to promote unity and reconciliation.
Finally, the PDC would propose that the NCPO launch awareness campaigns to inform people of their duty and responsibility toward the country.
