Deputy Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyos Poomphanmuang Thursday vowed to strictly enforce the law against protesters at the Victory Monument.
He alleged that the protesters, who have held demonstrations on a daily basis since the day after the coup, are not taking part in the protests off their own bat but that their rallies have been organised by certain persons.
Somyos, who has been assigned to head the operation to deal with protesters, warned those who are not involved to stay clear of the rally site because “the authorities will enforce the laws seriously”.
“Our assessment found that the demonstrators at the Victory Monument did not come on their own but they have leaders and their rallies were organised,” Somyos said.
“Investigations by military officers revealed that they have been led to rally. They did not come with sincere intentions but have a hidden agenda.”
Somyos said police said could not disclose who the leaders are.
