“They are one of the 11 drug-trafficking gangs operating in Samut Prakan,” Pongsapat Pongcharoen, secretary-general of the Narcotics Control Board, said yesterday.
The suspects were identified as Sittipong Waiyapat, 28, Nattakit Thongdee, 27, Chakrit Niljamhaeng, 28, Kwannapa Ittapon, 30, and Suwit Luang-orn, 60.
Nattakit was nabbed in Bangkok’s Bang Na district on Tuesday, allegedly on his way to deliver the shipment.
Investigations led to the capture of his accomplices.
Separately, Afridi Resalat, a Pakistani, was picked up on Wednesday after he contacted an Immigration Service Centre in Bangkok about issuing him a visa.
Police had taken out an arrest warrant for Resalat during the past month after a drug suspect detained over 147 kilograms of heroin implicated him.
