An institute will be established to boost police forensics, it has been revealed.
Deputy police spokesman Anucha Romyanant yesterday said the Asean Forensic Science Institute, tentatively earmarked to be based at the Office of Forensic Science Police, would promote information and co-operation exchanges as well as develop knowledge and technology at an international standard.
Anucha said terms of reference for the institute would soon be completed and a working team meeting held in Bangkok from March 26-28.
The working team’s results and progress would be reported to the 34th Aseanapol Conference in Manila in May.
Police chief General Adul Saengsingkaew proposed the idea for the institute at the 33rd Aseanapol meeting in Pattaya last month. Police chiefs from Asean and dialogue partners, including China, Japan, South Korea and Australia, attended the conference.
