Police yesterday announced the arrest of a suspected thief in Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang district, who was apprehended while driving a stolen pick-up truck. Police later seized three more stolen vehicles.
Pol Colonel Annop Suriyalert from the Metropolitan Police’s centre for prevention and suppression of auto thefts told the press conference that the arrest followed a burglary in Nakhon Ratchasima on September 26, 2013 in which the intruders got away with 38 valuable items worth Bt2.5 million including a Toyota pick-up truck.
Wasuthan Polsing, 42, was arrested in Pathum Thani while driving the stolen truck, which also carried fake licence plates.
Wasuthan told police that he was hired for Bt8,000 to drive the truck to a man in Nakhon Phanom who would transport it to be sold in Laos for Bt600,000.
The suspect also implicated a wealthy man in Bangkok’s Rama V area, leading to the seizure of three additional trucks along with many forged car document and licence plates.
