The Southern Border Provinces Administration and Development Advisory Council has set up a panel to look into the shocking shooting that seriously injured a couple and killed their three sons earlier this month.
“The panel will find out the truths and create the right understanding,” the council’s chairman Aziz Benhawan said yesterday.
The attack took place in Narathiwat’s Bacho district, with rumours spreading around that state officials might have had a hand in this bloody incident.
“We have called for speedy and fair investigation to ensure justice,” Aziz said.
He was speaking as he visited Padila Maman, the mother who was injured in that attack, at a hospital in Songkhla yesterday.
Aziz and his team from the council offered Padila moral support, some financial help, and assurance that relevant authorities were urgently looking into her case.
He also called on anyone who had crucial information on the case to contact his council.
“We are the people’s sector,” he said.
The ongoing wave of violence has raged on in Thailand’s deep South for about one decade already.
