The Ombudsman's Office said yesterday it had no authority to receive a complaint from a former Democrat MP, who is seeking to annul the February 2 election.
Former MP Wirat Kalayasiri asked the Ombudsman’s Office to pass on his petition to the Constitutional Court to rule on whether the election should be annulled.
Rak Kecha, deputy secretary general and spokesman for the Office, said the ombudsmen had no authority to accept the complaint because the Election Commission is an independent organisation. The ombudsmen could only receive complaints about state officials, he said.
