Hundreds of people yesterday joined candlelit vigils across the country in a show of strong support for the February 2 election.
They also opposed the Bangkok Shutdown, which is due to begin today. They lighted the candles as symbols of peace and voiced their concerns to both sides of the political divide.
The ceremonies were performed at locations such as Thammasat University, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Nakhon Pathom’s Kamphaeng Saen district, Si Sa Ket City Hall, Udon Thani and Chiang Rai Rajabhat University.
More candle-lighting sessions will be held today in Phitsanulok and at Silpakorn University’s Phetchaburi campus.
