Seven residents in Yala whose homes were damaged by a bomb attack in March 2012 were yesterday handed keys to new ones.
Senior civilian and military officials in the province took part in yesterday’s handover ceremony, which saw the homes worth Bt10 million in total being blessed in a Buddhist ceremony. All of the residents are Buddhists.
The attack on the night of March 31, 2012, in Muang Yala municipality saw 12 people killed and 120 others wounded. The blast also caused fires that gutted or damaged seven homes.
Construction of the new houses began in November 2012 and was completed in October last year. The money spent on the houses came from a government fund with contributions from the seven owners.
