Five dykes in Buri Ram province are already full, putting nearby areas at risk of flooding.
The areas at risk are: Huai Yang, Huai Khi Noo, Huai Yai, Huai Tako and Huai Khieo.
The province’s irrigation chief, Kitikul Sepaseeraporn, on Wednesday blamed the historic high rainfall for the flood threat.
“Normally, rainfall in May in the province has been about 100 millimetres. But this month, rainfall has already reached 273 millimetres,” he said.
