Minion fans can once again delight in the upbeat sounds of Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer Pharrell Williams who this time round has penned five brand new tunes for Illumination’s “Despicable Me 3 “ soundtrack.

Williams has just released “Yellow Light,” one of tracks he wrote and produced for the film and will soon be offering “There’s Something Special”, a tune that captures the tone of the series. His anthemic “Freedom” serves as the perfect backdrop as the Minions plot their escape from prison in the film.

In addition to his five new original songs, the soundtrack gets a healthy dose of nostalgia, thanks to the series’ new villain, Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), a former child star who’s grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ’80s.

Bad never sounded so good, literally, as Michael Jackson’s “Bad” makes the perfect theme song for Balthazar Bratt. The soundtrack also features classic hits from the decade including Madonna’s “Into The Groove”, Nena’s “99 Luft balloons,” and a-ha’s “Take On Me.” Parker is featured on the infectious new song from William titled “Hug Me.”

Williams has written and produced songs and themes for the entire “Despicable Me” series. Despicable Me 2 featured the Academy Award -nominated and Grammy Award-winning global smash hit “Happy”.

The soundtrack album of the film will be in stores from June 23.

“Despicable Me 3” continues the story of Gru (Steve Carell), Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes– and the Minions. After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down the latest bad guy to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis. But when a mysterious stranger shows up to inform Gru that he has a long-lost twin brother Dru (also Carell) – a brother who desperately wishes to follow in his twin’s despicable footsteps – one former super-villain will rediscover just how good it feels to be bad.
