Guitar gods coming to Bangkok

Generation Axe featuring Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt, and Tosin Abasi is bringing its “Night of Guitars” to Moonstar Studio 8 in Bangkok on April 23 at 7.30pm.

The show will feature a variety of collaborations by the five players, including everyone performing together as one cohesive band with a rhythm section including Pete Griffin (Dweezil Zappa, Stanley Clarke, Edgar Winter) on bass, Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) on keys, and JP Bouvet (Dave MacKay, Drew of the Drew) on drums. Vai, Wylde, Malmsteen, Bettencourt and Abasi will perform songs from their various catalogues in addition to performing well-known numbers and a few unexpected gems.

Steve Vai was voted the 10th "Greatest Guitarist" by “Guitar World” magazine and has sold over 15 million records. .Zakk Wyld is best known as the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, and founder of the heavy metal band Black Label Society. 

    Yngwie Johan Malmsteen is a Swedish guitarist and bandleader. In 2009, Time magazine rated Malmsteen as among the 10 greatest electric guitar players of all time.

    Nuno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt is best known as the lead guitarist of the Boston rock band Extreme. He has since recorded a solo project called Schizophonic as well as with bands he founded including Mourning Widows, Population 1, DramaGods, The Satellite Party, and then reunited with Extreme to record new music and tour.

    Oluwatosin Ayoyinka Olumide "Tosin" Abasi is best known as the founder and lead guitarist of the instrumental progressive metal band Animals as Leaders.
