Bangkok's newest nightspot offers different spaces about any mood
Sukhumvit Soi 11 continues to spring surprises for Bangkok’s night owls. Joining such long-standing clubbing institutions as Bed Supperclub and Q Bar and a string of smaller pubs and bars is Levels Club and Lounge, which feted its arrival with a grand opening party last week.
The club spans a massive 1,000 square metres and features four different sections with different decors. There’s a terrace to chill and enjoy the view and a lounge inside to relax more comfortably. Levels Club, which is a dancing area, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that includes 50 lights, a 30-square-metre LED wall and two full colour lasers to ensure sensory fulfilment. And if you and your big group of friends are VIPs, Levels has probably Bangkok’s largest VIP area on the second floor.
Patrice Potuznik, the promoter behind the successful EditionBangkok festival, as well as the Tiesto and Akon gigs, and the creative mind behind the establishment, served up his insights on Levels.
What’s Levels all about?
Levels Club and Lounge is all about diversity and visual experience. We aim to build a club that can cater to audiences’ various desires through a complete night.
Start with an after work drink at Levels Terrace, enjoy your mid evening time in the lounge and for the late hours Levels Club offers a high-end clubbing experience.
Each area has a completely different design, so it feels like exploring various clubs within one establishment.
Soi 11 is where things are happening right now, many quality clubs and new establishments are opening all the time, so we want to be inside the action and give our own interpretation of quality to the area.
What’s the music policy?
We have selected in our eyes the absolute best DJs available. Right now we have six residents, but we aim to increase this to eight over the coming weeks.
Levels Lounge is about sophisticated, quality house music, so we aim to blend vocal house, tech house and nu soul with the occasional disco touch.
For Levels Club, it is more geared towards electro house; it will be a bit more commercial but always with a remixed twist.
Soi 11 already has two well-known clubs. Is it not getting too crowded?
We have set out to do something different that we hope will compliment the clubbing experience in Soi 11.
In our view, it does not have to be one club or the other, the availability of many good clubs in an area will attract more people to Soi 11 and many people enjoy hopping from one club to another, so I think it’s mostly about offering people more variation.
How you see the clubbing trends in Bangkok?
I think people are looking more and more for a personal connection to clubs, that means more clubs that cater to specific styles, so audiences can select the clubs that best fit their desires.
What can we expect from Levels in the near future?
We aim to become the leading club in Southeast Asia and will not rest until we get there.
Levels Club and Lounge is on the sixth floor of the Aloft Bangkok Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11, near BTS Nana. It is not affiliated with the hotel and has its own operation systems and regulations.
