Toro Bangkok, the popular Barcelona-inspired tapas bar from award-winning chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette, is taking its loyal patrons on a Mediterranean journey next Thursday (May 24).
Chef Zach Watkins will introduce 10 tantalising dishes of Barcelona-style tapas paired with sparkling, rose, red and white wines from all around the Med. They include Il Brut Blanc de Blanc from Italy, Gerard Bertrand (Languedoc) Gris Blanc 2014, Torres Verdeho Rueda 2013 from Spain, Pala Cannonau (Grenache) I Fiori 2014 from Sardinia and Torres Celeste Ribera del Duero 2012 from Spain.
The tapas range from Baramundi (smoked pastrami mousse, dried squid, spring onions, shrimp crackers), Toasta De Congrejo (blue crab salad, lardo, black garlic, grilled bread) and Escalivada (smoked eggplant, onions, peppers, tomatoes, sherry vinegar) to Croquettas (salt cod fritters, tempura lemon rings, alioli) and Bikini Bocadillo (pressed serrano ham sandwich, manchego cheese, truffle butter).
Also available are Setas (San Sebastian-style mushrooms, farm egg, wild herbs), Filete a La Plancha (spice rubbed hanger steak, caramelised red onions, green curry butter), Guanciale (grilled pork jowl, pickled mango, dancing shrimp, chilli relish, colatura), Paella De Mar Y Tierra (clams, shrimp, chorizo and bomba rice) and Churros (banana miso churros tossed with cinnamon sugar and chocolate dip).
