The Corrections Department is getting prison guards and inmates nationwide to make one million sandalwood flowers for ceremonies marking the cremation of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol in October.
Department director-general Kobkiat Kasiwiwat presided over the campaign launch on Monday to have females from Thonburi’s Remand Prison and Special Prison, who were trained by the Bangkok Metropolitan Vocational School on how to make the funeral flowers, to teach officials.
The officials will then pass on the knowledge to inmates nationwide and the flowers will be distributed at designated locations.
Inmates will also show the public how to make the flowers at Nonthaburi's Robinson Srisaman store every Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
