The Bhiraj Buri Group unveiled its new contemporary meeting and convention spaces – the Bhiraj Convention Centre – at Bitec, Bang Na.

Panittha Buri, managing director of Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec), said the Bhiraj Convention Centre would be dedicated to delivering prime spaces for conventions, meetings, gala presentations, stage shows and other special events.

Panittha said that current trends in the market highlighted the need for growth. In 2016, occupancy of exhibitions, conferences and seminars was 54 per cent, with a growth of 5-8 per cent expected in 2017. Current public and private sector targets include organisers from overseas such as Asia, Middle East and Europe.

A part of Bitec’s major expansion plan, the Bhiraj Convention Centre consists of three new halls offering a combined space of 3,574 square metres. The venue offers spacious, purpose-built halls for small gatherings of 500 people to large conventions of over 3,600 delegates.

The halls can be used for a variety of events including live performances, corporate meetings, plenary sessions, grand gala events, weddings and product launches. Complete with acoustic wall systems, the halls are complemented by state-of-the-art facilities such as Wi-Fi service throughout the venue, a contemporary business centre, VIP room, AV room and organiser’s office as well as banquet services.

The new centre also offers 12 contemporary meeting rooms for 30 to 170 delegates for intimate gatherings, seminars and breakout sessions. The rooms are divided into three themed zones inspired by the world’s ancient trade and travel routes:

Silk Meeting rooms: Inspired by the Silk Road, an important network that stretched from Japan to the Mediterranean Sea

Amber Meeting rooms: Paying homage to Amber Road, which supplied the amber trade between the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Mediterranean Sea

Nile Meeting rooms: A tribute to the long, north-flowing river that connects several countries in northeastern Africa.

On completion later this year, the centre is expected to support the growth of Thailand’s MICE industry and place Bitec as one of the most competitive venues in Asia.
