AirAsia is launching daily direct flights to the Maldives, with bookings open from Wednesday.
The route is being introduced with a promotional fare starting at Bt1,990 per trip for bookings until June 25, for travel from August 11, 2017, to August 28, 2018.
Santisuk Klongchaiya, director of commercial for Thai AirAsia, said that the Bangkok-Maldives daily direct flight will take to the sky on August 11 with a promotional fare.
“Many peoples’ perception of the Maldives is that it is costly and only caters to certain types of travelers, but today AirAsia is launching it so ‘Everyone Can Fly’ to the country to find out that it offers a wide variety of accommodation from guesthouses to opulent resorts.
“Without the need for a visa (for Thai people), travelling to the Maldives is now easier than ever and we are confident the route will see robust growth, especially as AirAsia is the first low-fare carrier to offer Bangkok-Maldives link.”
AirAsia flies from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to the Maldives. The addition of Bangkok as a gateway to the islands underlines the popularity of the destination.
