More than 50 tuned and dressed-up exhibits from Tokyo Auto Salon 2013 held earlier this year will be attracting visitors to the Bangkok International Auto Salon from June 20-30 at Muangthong Thani.
This is the second year that the event is being held by Inspire Entertainment, which is part of Siam Sport Syndicate. Organiser Wiluck Lohthong said as much as Bt300 million is being spent to stage the event, which aims to become the largest customised vehicle and accessory show in Asean. The show area this year has been doubled to 40,000sqm, and as many as 400 exhibitors are expected to take part. More than 1 million visitors are expected, Wiluck said.
Among the tuners from the Tokyo Auto Salon are Tommy Kaira, Bride, Gibson, Tanabe and AMS. Also present are tuners from Thailand, Japan, China and Europe.
Among the highlights are the Nissan Super GT-R 1200 Top Secret, Toyota 86 Tom’s, Mazda RX-8 Night Sports (which took part in the Macau GP Roadsport Challenge), Suzuki Swift Sport Type Zero Top Fuel, BMW Gran Coupe 3D Design Edition and the Honda CR-Z Mugen RR Concept.
“This is the second year that we are staging the auto salon and we aim to make it an even bigger and better event,” he said.
“The Bangkok Auto Salon was a success from the first time it was held, and it serves as the first official model for organising the show outside of Japan,” said Masaharu Sakae, general manager of San-Eisyobo Publishing, one of the affiliate sponsors of the Tokyo Auto Salon. “The same format and standards with the Tokyo Auto Salon are applied here, and apart from the automobile and motorcycle exhibits, we are bringing along the atmosphere of the Tokyo Auto Salon through ambassadors such as the A-Class Girld Japan 2013 and various race queens.”
