AJE, one of the largest multinational beverage companies, recently partnered with Esso in Thailand to expand the distribution of Cielo drinking water.
Cielo is now offered to customers who refuel at Esso stations free of charge. AJE believes this campaign is an important step in furthering the growth of Cielo in the Thai market. AJE also plans to increase Cielo’s distribution channels in both traditional and modern trades.
“This cooperation with such an outstanding partner as Esso is a great starting point, as well as a significant opportunity in the growth of our company, but not just for Cielo and the drinking-water category, but also for our other brands,” said Jose Escudero, managing director of AJE Thailand.
AJE, a Peru-based company, specialises in soft drinks. It has launched its Cielo drinking water into the Thai market to expand its product portfolio.
AJE’s flagship brand is Big Cola.
StanChart, mPay cooperate
Standard Chartered Bank Thailand has announced a partnership with Advanced mPay Co to expand its Straight2Bank Wallet platform to corporate clients.
The collaboration will enable the bank’s corporate clients effortlessly to collect payments, fees or contributions from mPay Wallet users or via mPay stations with real-time connectivity.
StanChart says Straight2Bank Wallet will significantly lower operat-ing costs and risks associated with managing cash, shorten the debt-collection period and ultimately help to boost efficiency in working-capital management for the bank’s corporate clients.

Acme targets 10-15% growth
Acme International (Thailand) Co, a provider of industrial iron and metal powders for automotive parts, electrical appliances and other sectors, has targeted sales growth of 10-15 per cent this year, said business unit manager Boonyawat Teeraprawatekul.
Acme International is the first distributor of iron powder in Thailand.

It is targeting sales of 12,000 tonnes this year.
Aircraft maintenance deal
Code-share partners Etihad Airways and Air New Zealand have signed a wide-ranging agreement to provide reciprocal line maintenance services in Melbourne and Los Angeles.
Etihad Airways will soon perform all scheduled and non-scheduled line maintenance on Air New Zealand aircraft in Melbourne at its Tullamarine engineering facility.
In return, Air New Zealand is already performing full line maintenance for Etihad Airways in Los Angeles.
The maintenance services to be performed in Melbourne and Los Angeles may include transit, daily and weekly checks, scheduled engineering services and fault repairs for the aircraft systems and passenger cabins.
Three-way JV formed
Nippon Television Network Corporation, Nikkatsu Corporation and Kantana Group yesterday disclosed establishment of a joint venture named Kantana Japan Corp with the aim of developing global film-production work flows.
The new company’s main business is to receive orders throughout Japan for production of computer graphics. Moreover, it will leverage Kantana Group’s resources to pursue new business opportunities such as co-producing animations.
Thais favour Tokyo
Tokyo ranks as the top destination for Thai travellers booking an overseas holiday, according to the latest Hotels.com Hotel Price Index.
The 2013 survey found that Thais love to travel in Asia, with the top five most popular destinations being Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Osaka and Siem Reap.
Bangkok was once again the top destination for visitors to Thailand.
Links with Malaysia
To cash in on Malaysia’s efforts to become a developed country by 2020, Thailand’s Commerce Ministry is studying the neighbouring country’s model, with the aim of creating a closer connection with Malaysia and developing the Kingdom into a hub of trade and investment for the region.
Amparwon Pichalai, director of the Policies and Trade Strategies Bureau, said Thailand should consider streng-thening cooperation with Malaysia and other countries in various sectors, so that these sectors could be developed alongside those in neighbouring nations. The sectors that will be emphasised include logistics and transport, food processing, and cross-border trade.
