That 24 countries have confirmed their participation in the Thailand Hotel Investment Conference from May 19-21 at the Dusit Thani Bangkok is a testament to its importance for the Asia-Pacific hospitality investment community, the organiser says.
The draw to a destination recognised by the industry as the home of hospitality in Asia emains strong despite the political uncertainty in the capital. The deep speaker line-up is also a sweetener.
Thawatchai Arunyik, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, will open THIC.
Marilyn McHugh, vice president for global events at Questex Hospitality + Travel, the organiser, said yesterday that just over half of the delegates would be coming from overseas for an event that presents an opportunity to gain access to hundreds of new projects and contracts.
"It’s very gratifying to see the international confidence in Thailand," she said.
"The high sign-up rate of overseas delegates is proof of the Thai hospitality sector’s resilience in the face of the political uncertainty and demonstrates that there are no real concerns."
The highlights include a high-level investment-focused discussion, "Regional Hotel Investment Roundup: What Areas in Asia Are Hot for Investment and Why".
Eric Levy, managing director of Tourism Solutions International, will be the moderator, while the panellists will include Faez Jumabhov, managing director and head of real estate for CIMB Investment Bank; Bobby Hiranandani, managing director of Royal Group of Companies; and Peter Meyers, Asia-Pacific managing director for Host Hotels and Resorts.
Other discussions include "Insight Panel: Proactive Risk Management for Investing in Growth Markets" and "Risk Management Panel: Managing Cyclical Businesses, Epidemics, Currency Wars and Other Risks".
Networking highlights include IHIF Networking Express, a successful speed-dating meet and greet based on the IHIF flagship Berlin event, and interactive roundtables – discussions on investment niches and hot |topics with like-minded individuals.
THIC provides investors, developers and hospitality professionals with insight into the industry, its opportunities and future trends through access to a roster of distinguished speakers and to high-level networking events.
