Epson has introduced 17 new projector models in a move that supports its goal of becoming the leader in all Thai market segments in a little over a year's time. Yunyong Muneemongkoltorn, general manager of Epson (Thailand), said that in its upcoming fisca
To help accomplish this, it has introduced 17 new models across the three segments of the market: 10 models for the Smart series, five in the Evolution series and two for the home-use market.
The company offers projectors priced from Bt1,000 through to Bt600,000, covering the entry-level market to the professional or high-end market, he said.
Among the new Smart series models, the EB-X03 and EB-X18 have a brightness of between 2,700 and 3,500 lumens. They boast full features, including Epson Wi-Fi adapter, USB (universal service bus) and high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) ports, which are suitable for a wide range of presentations. In the Evolution series, the new EB-97 and EB-965 models come with a multi-PC projection feature, Wi-Fi connection and HDMI.
In the Home series, the EH-TW5200 and EH-TW8200 models provide a home-entertainment experience via full HD, 3D and the 1,080p resolution, he said. Yunyong said the company would aim to plug gaps in the projector market, which still had high growth potential in the medium-range and home-use segments.
Epson would come out with further products to support demand, and would continue to provide customer support via its more than 100 service centres nationwide, he added.
Projector business is accounted for by the education segment, at 50 per cent, followed by 25 per cent from small and medium-sized enterprises, 10 per cent from the corporate market and 5 per cent each from the professional and home-use segments.
The company is the Thai market leader for projectors featuring a brightness of less than 4,000 lumens, or the small and medium-range market.
“We had a market share of about 26 per cent of the total projector market of around 100,000 units in 2013. The market value was Bt1.7 billion. The projector market remains highly competitive at the entry level, even though it has been affected by the political situation,” he said.
