Wissanu Krea-Ngam, legal advisor of the junta, said Wednesday that Article 46 of the provisional charter was aimed at preventing breach of the constitution again.
Article 46 empowers the National Council for Peace and Order and the Cabinet to jointly resolve to ask the National Legislative Assembly to amend the interim charter. On the contrary, the NLA cannot amend the interim constitution without approval from the NCPO and the Cabinet.
Wissanu told a press conference that the article was aimed at allowing the NCPO to constructively use the power through the legislature and to prevent anyone from seeking unconstitutional measures again.
