The election tentatively scheduled for July 20 may have to delay, Election Commissioner Somchai Srisuthiyakorn said Thursday.
He was speaking after a meeting between EC and acting PM Niwutthumrong Boonsongpaisarn set to talk about preparation for the July election was abruptly ended after anti-government protesters surround the meeting venue.
The premier and other senior cabinet members had to be escorted out of the venue while rally leader Suthep Thaugsuban entered the venue's back door.
Somchai said now that it seemed likely that the preparation for the July election could not meet the timeframe, so the election may have to be postponed.
