Caretaker Prime Minister Friday sent a request to the Constitutional Court, asking it to allow caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung to defend her in the case related to the transfer of the National Security Council chief.
Pichit Chuenban, a member of the legal team of the Pheu Thai, said Yingluck had a lawyer sent the request to the court.
The court earlier decided to allow Chalerm to submit only written statement to defend Yingluck.
Yingluck was accused of violating the charter when she ordered the transfer of NSC chief Thawil Pliensri.
Pichit said Chalerm was directly involved in the case because Thawil mentioned him when he testified to the Central Administrative Court.
