Kuala Lumpur - The Malaysian Airlines passenger jet that went missing over the weekend stayed in the air for about four hours past the time it had reached its last confirmed location, a news report said Thursday.
Quoting "two people familiar with the details," the Wall Street Journal said US aviation investigators and national security officials had come to this conclusion based on "data automatically downloaded and sent to the ground" from the engines of the Boeing plane.
The data analysed by the US investigators is normally used as part of routine maintenance for the engines, the WSJ report said.
