Yingluck opts to work in provinces to avoid protesters

Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Friday she opted to work in provinces rather than in Bangkok because she neither wanted to be a target of anti-government protesters nor to be seen as challenging them.
“I want to ask you what will happen if we – fellow Thais – can no longer look at each other but harbor hate against one another,” Yingluck, who has been on duty in northeast provinces since Wednesday, said in her shaking voice and her eyes reddened with emotions.
She said she had already fully retreated but insisted that she had to stay on as caretaker prime minister to do her job and to protect democracy.
