Two Narathiwat security personnel, wanted for allegedly having a hand in the assassination of a landfill contractor and his friend last Saturday, have been arrested, authorities said Thursday.
Provincial police chief Pol Maj-General Pattanawut Angkhanawin said investigation had also led to an arrest warrant for a Muang district defence volunteer Chalee Chaiyao, who is believed to have gunned down Muhammad-dao Sani and Saidee Yalaesa-ngae in Rangae district. Chalee is still at large.
Arrest warrants were issued for Chief Petty Officer First Class Somporn Langdecg, a marine under Chulabhorn Camp who reportedly used a state pick-up truck in the attack, and ranger Somchai Saengchan who reportedly drove the truck. The two are now in custody, Pattanawut added.
The three men were allegedly hired to launch the fatal attack, which is believed to have stemmed from a conflict over a landfill contract.
