The Office of Ombudsman decided Friday that it has no authority to receive a complaint of a former Democrat MP, which seeks to annul the February 2 election.
Former MP Wirat Kalayasiri asked the Office of Ombudsman to pass on his petition to the Constitutional Court to rule whether the election should be annulled.
But Rak Kecha, deputy secretary general and spokesman of the Office of Ombudsman, said the ombudsmen had no authority to accept the complaint because the Election Commission is an independent organization. Rak said the ombudsmen could receive complaints against only state officials.
