The Thai economy in the fourth quarter last year is expected to expand lower than its potential, according to the Fiscal Policy Office.
The office's director-general Somchai Sujjapongse said that the economic indicators in last December showed that the country experienced shrinking domestic spending and production, due partially to the political disturbance that hit the consumers' confidence and the tourism sector.
The office made the forecast last month that the Thai economy last year would expand 2.8 per cent.
