Tokyo - The Bank of Japan on Thursday maintained its forecast, predicting that long-standing deflation would be replaced by a 1.9-per-cent annual rise in the consumer price index by the financial year starting March 2015.
Inflation would reach 0.7 per cent in the current financial year to March 2014, it said, compared with its July estimation of 0.6 percent.
The bank said it expected the rise in the consumer price index to increase to 1.3 per cent in the next financial year through March 2015, it said in a semi-annual report released on Thursday.//DPA
