The black box of a Lao Airlines plane that plunged into the Mekong River has been found, official says.
The flight recorder of a Lao Airlines plane that plunged into the Mekong River near Pakse, Champasak Province, has been located and retrieved, an official said.
Prasop Sarnsamak, part of the Thai search and rescue operation, revealed Monday that the black box was found about 50 metres from the crash scene. The accident, which took place last Wednesday, killed 49 people, five of them Thai.
“We found it at 3pm. The black box has already been handed over to Lao authorities,” said Prasop, who is also deputy chief of Ubon Ratchathani’s provincial public health office.
